UCG Continues Streak of Excellence

Gaithersburg, MD, May 21, 2012 – Continuing its unmatched record of awards for excellence in business journalism and in marketing, UCG content producers and marketers earned 15 awards from the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA) at its annual convention and trade show this evening in Washington. The company won First Place in three categories.

Best Editorial and Marketing Collaboration.

Working side-by-side and under a tight deadline, The Mortgage Success Source team of Sue Woodard, from the editorial side, and Torry Burdick, of the marketing team, developed, created and marketed Credit Union Toolbox, a product that automates sales and marketing campaigns for small- and mid-size credit unions. In less than three weeks from initial concept to a tremendously successful launch at a the National Credit Union Directors’ Annual Convention, Woodard and Burdick designed a solution that fills a pressing need for credit unions who often cannot afford the deep sales and marketing bench larger financial institutions rely on. Mortgage Success Source is based in Holmdel, NJ, and in Minneapolis.

Best Marketing Campaign of 2011.

Oil Price Information Service’s creative team of Dawn Lewis and Molly Levin broke in-house response rates and net profit ratios with an e-mail campaign that brought new life to an interactive tool bulk purchasers of petroleum products use to compare costs instantly. After tweaking and fine-tuning the email and landing page for this campaign, the Lewis-and-Levin team knocked potential customers off their feet by providing immediate access to the tool, showing the daily savings customers could achieve by subscribing. In a business where net profit ratios of $4 are rare, this campaign exceeded $29 for every dollar invested. In addition to its offices in the U.S., Oil Price Information Service has offices in the U.K., Singapore and Sweden.

Rising Star.

Nicole Smolenski, of Oil Price Information Service (OPIS), is the first recipient of SIPA’s Rising Star award. With no professional experience as a writer or journalist, and with no background in the petroleum industry, Nicole quickly demonstrated great skill in reporting stories and analyzing the market that handles most of the gasoline and diesel fuel in the U.S. Her professional growth is remarkable and an inspiration to others on our team, says Brian Crotty, President of OPIS.

UCG is the first and only company to win more than 100 awards for excellences in content and marketing from the Specialized Information Publishers Association. The company has been recognized every year since 1980, when the awards were first presented. In addition, UCG has won a number of awards from the prestigious National Press Club of Washington for excellence in spot news reporting and for investigative and analytical journalism.
